About Solano Pride Center
Since 1998, Solano Pride Center (SPC) has worked to advance the LGBTQ community in Solano County, California. We offer counseling services, a youth group, support groups, social activities and events, resources, and a speakers’ bureau. Our community center is in Fairfield, CA, and we are looking forward to opening a second center in Vallejo, CA in the near future - by the 4th Quarter of 2019.
We are looking for a dynamic Executive Director to guide us into the future. The Executive Director reports to the Solano Pride Board of Directors. The Executive Director works with the Board, our small staff, volunteers, and our funders to plan, organize and direct our activities. We currently have a contract with the Solano County Behavioral Health Department to provide mental health services, focused on prevention and early intervention, and another through the UC Davis Center for Reducing Health Disparities to advance an inclusive community for underserved populations in one of the most diverse counties in California.
Solano Pride Center provides relevant, fun and innovative programs, services, and support that meet the needs of the LGBTQ community in Solano County. Social and educational activities create strong self-images and strong friendships and inclusivity among all members of the LGBTQ community.
Position Summary
The Executive Director, in collaboration with the Board of Directors, is responsible for advancing Solano Pride Center (the Center) into a mature, thriving, and sustainable community resource for Solano County LGBTQ residents and their families. The Executive Director reports to the Board and helps them to develop and implement strategic and operational goals to be followed by the organization. The Executive Director also develops programs, manages the day-to-day activities of the Center, and represents the organization along with the Board of Directors to funders, government agencies, and the Solano County community. The Executive Director will develop and lead fundraising efforts, including corporate sponsorships, grant applications, and agency contracts. The Executive Director will build relationships with other organizations and agencies in order to effectively serve our community in all of Solano County. He/she works within the guidelines, policies, and values of the organization and will be accountable and responsible for specific projects as assigned by the Board of Directors.
Duties & Responsibilities
Advisor to Board

In concert with the Board, establish strategic and operational goals, programs, priorities, and performance measurements for the Center activities.

Advise the Board on activities, program performance, trends, and significant issues or problems.

Analyze trends,identifyissuesanddevelopandrecommendsolutionstotheBoardof Directors.
Day to Day Operations

Provide leadership in the implementation, management, supervision and evaluation of all activities of the Center.

Hands-on management of the day-to-day operations of the Center.

Maintain databases for operational and outcome reporting

Ensure the Center’s capacity for training the community about LGBTQ people and issues, and for providing LGBTQ cultural competency training to area counselors, schools, governments, and businesses.

Ensure that the operations of the organization fulfill its fiduciary and contractual obligations.
Fundraising

Identify and develop fundraising strategies and sources, and act to increase the funding available to meet the organization’s work commitments and goals.

Research and write applications for grants and corporate sponsors.

Research and write applications for contracts with government agencies.

Cultivate relationships with funders, donors, and others for the financial well-being of the Center.
Community Building
-
Work to open and maintain a second Pride Center location in Vallejo by 4th Quarter 2019.

Work to increase participation in the Center’s social and community activities, and social services offered.

Identifydevelopstrategiesforadvancing the Center as a community center, including social and community activities, and social services.

Develop and implement innovative programs, services, and activities for Solano County LGBTQ residents and their families.

Ensure development and implementation of programs related to youth, their families, and area schools.

Human Resources Management

In consultation with the Board, recruit, hire, train, coach, and supervise the Center’s employees.

Ensure adequate, qualified, and diverse volunteers and staff to carry out the Center’s activities.

Coordinate with clinical staff supervisor and clinical staff to ensure adequate and effective clinical services to the Center’s clients.
Marketing and Communications

Develop and implement marketing and communication strategies to expand outreach to LGBTQ community in all areas of Solano County, to increase participation in activities and services, and to increase the visibility of the Center.

Develop and conduct a bi-annual needs assessment survey for the Solano County LGBTQ Community.

Maintain and further develop Solano Pride's social media presence and other electronic communication modalities.
Qualifications
-
4yearcollegedegree

3 years of professional experience in a leadership role in community work, business, non-profit management, organizational development or similar work

Demonstrated experience in working with LGBTQ organizations and with culturally and politically diverse communities, and a strong commitment to equality for all people

Knowledge of and experience in fundraising strategies and donor relations in the non-profit sector

Demonstrated oral and written communication

Salary
Compensation will be commensurate with experience. This is a full-time, exempt position with benefits.
